Should we have school uniform

Should we have school uniforms?

There are many reasons why we should and should not have uniforms. Firstly school uniforms are used to represent your school, and for people to know what school you attend . Others can misunderstand you  when you are not wearing a uniform. School uniforms can also be dangerous if you have social media such as tiktok , snap chat EXT. Our answer is yes because when wearing uniform it will feel like we are an actual school

Our answer is yes because by wearing the same uniform students would feel more included and comfortable around the school. Wearing a uniform will help improve students' self esteem and be more confident. As a school we should look more professional by wearing school uniforms. Uniforms are one of the reasons we can call school a school.

The question of whether we should have school uniforms is really something to think about but It is clear that school uniforms make the school feel like more of a school and are more comfortable for the students. Of course uniforms can sometimes be expensive, then people can't afford them, but school uniforms are really important.

School uniforms have many advantages and disadvantages. Besides, uniforms help people be more confident and pleasant in themselves. For example, if there is a meeting and you are required to connect with students from different schools wearing school uniforms wouldn’t make you uncomfortable. Furthermore, students who are wearing uniforms also feel satisfied with their school.

Wearing school uniforms helps the student feel more positive about themselves and they participate in more activities voluntarily with high efforts to demonstrate that their school is good. Uniforms are not only to help students be unique from other people, to be more beautiful, but also to make them feel equal to other students. Furthermore, they can be proud of their current school if they are recognized by a lot of people. Uniforms can keep students safe because people know where they belong, especially on school trips,  plus parents won’t have to spend a lot of money on designer clothes. The reason uniforms should remain is because it brings a lot of advantages to students. School uniforms promote a sense of belonging. To conclude this argument, as long as you keep your uniform tidy and safe everything will be okay.

Experiment for soil

Room 10 has been learning about soil. Today we did an experiment. To do this, we needed some soil  a clear bottle half filled up with water. First we put the soil in the bottle, if the hole in the bottle was small, we used a funnel made of paper. We poured the soil into the bottle with water. We then closed the bottle with the lid and shook it well. Lastly, we left the mixture in a safe place for a day to settle.

Learning how to save money was great. I have learned that we should put our earned money in the bank because it would be a safe place to put it in. Room 10 and I also learned about lending , we did a few Role plays to show what a good lender and a bad lender looks likes. Getting the chance to work with Tom, Rochelle and Aleisha was awesome. They made lending and saving more understanding for someone young like me. I definitely enjoyed the sessions with you three.

Get your game on!!

The bell rings for us to go and play. We had got your game on. For our school it was really competitive but sometimes too competitive if you know what I mean. Anyway during morning tea the  kids were all scrambling in the bathrooms trying to shine out in their colours. Our colors are Rata, Nikau, Kowhai and Kauri or Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. All the girls in Rata really went full out with  red lavas, Red face paint, red T- Shirt, Red shoes and Ribbons for their hair. I alway just wore a blue T - Shirt and that's all. I heard the bell go again. It was time for us to go to class and get ready to settle down on the courts.

Room 10´s first game was Lape. It was a really cool samoan game that one of our teachers made. For Lape, the rules were, your class will be separated into 2 teams , for us it was Kauri and Nikau versus Kowhai and Rata. One team will be batters and the other team will me feilding but you will eventually switch. The pitcher will throw it gently and the batter has to hit the ball with their hand. You cannot hit it on the grass therefore that is out of bounds . Lastly after you have hit the ball you run to all corners without stopping and when you touch the middle cone that is a Home run. Whichever team gets the most home runs wins the whole thing.

Our second game was to rob the nest. This was a really quick game. Again we were separated into 2 teams and tried to get as many cones as we could get. When the cones were all finished, before we could steal from the other side we had to do an exercise move 5 times. That was the hardest part. My team didn't win but we still tried our best and cheered ourselves up.

Lastly we played silent ball. Everyone knew how to play this, We just passed it on to someone else without making noise. If you make any noise or drop the ball you are out. However if the game gets a little boring we do hot potato but the same rules apply. There will be more rules added such as one leg up and one eye closed. I won one of those rounds, but I did say good game to the other player. After our game, All classes met back up on the courts.

Our Deputy principal congratulated everyone for trying their best at all of the games. She then asked  everyone to go back to their classes. This  term got you game one. It was great. I wonder what game the teachers have set up for us Next term.

Should junk food be banned from school?

Banning junk food could be a good idea because it would be helpful for eating healthy. But let's think about the bad thing.

Kids already break so many rules why put junk food not allowed when yet people can still bring it in so there is no point.  If you see, bringing junk food is just a little treat for the kids but I still can't see why junk food should be banned.

Furthermore, if I were to ban unhealthy food, I strongly believe that if someone cared about what kids weighed and what they ate they would have to encourage the kids them self to stop. It is not a situation that should be brought up to school, such as fat shaming.

Another point is that by banning junk food, The school would have to put a lot of work into it. Like I said in my first argument they break so many rules it could cause some chaos. When I say chaos I mean kids getting in trouble for bringing a packet of chips and kids sneaking them in.

So my answer is no. If you could see there is a point in my argument so I say no banning our junk food.

My Pepeha

This week we have  been learning our Pepeha. I hope you will learn something about me

Haiku - Summer

For the past two weeks we, have been learning about poetry writing. The special type of poetry we learnt about is called Haiku. A Haiku has 3 lines with a total of 17 syllables. The first line has 5 syllables,  the second line has 7 syllables and the last line has 5 syllables. Altogether that makes 17 and that is how you write a haiku. Hope you learnt something!!!
